Giving kids clothes and food is one thing but it's much more important to teach them that other people besides themselves are important, and that the best thing they can do with their lives is to use them in the service of other people.

Due to a burgeoning selfishness that people show towards others we truly need to teach children not to act as so.

BOO! I can't exactly deny that it isn't important to devote parts of your life to helping people, but to say it in the way this Huerta exclaims it to be is flaud. If you're always in service of others (which is true because no matter what kind of work you have or are part of you're serving others needs/wants) then you can never truly be a leader. You will always be following something and someone elses point of views and beliefs. AHHH!!!

In countries with burgeoning populations, people focus on meeting the basic needs of children first and formost, and other social skills last. She's saying that it's more important to establish a strong sense of compassion in the children, to make them aware of the needs of the people around them. It's idealistic, but by means of survival purposes not necessarily practical for people in poverty.

well this kind of tells me that if you give a man a fish he eats for a day and if you teach him to fish he will eat for life. but this has nothing to do with the burgeoning of the poor kids. everyone is important.

as grown people i think we should be burgeoning little kids ot thin of others. they will be grown ups and be controlling the world or how it runs. this should motivate us to help these kids out to be better.

i think that it is a good thing to help people but not to service them like maid or something like then they are not burgeoning there minds nad expences. so if kids were to services somene like a maid that is bad but helping or leading them a hand that is ok.

IN ORDER FOR THE ECONOMY OR WEALTH OF SOCIETY TO BURGEON WE AS PEOPLE HAVE TO NOT BE SELFISH AND THINK OF OTHERS BECAUSE THAT IS WHAT TRULY HELPS OUR COUNTRY GET FAR IN THE WORLD.

Yet again...
We need to do this. We need to go out and change things, change people, fundamentally. Things can be better, but only through people.
This is a pragmatic approach: see the movie "Pay It Forward" and do that.
