Journal #1 02/02/06

Read the following quote and respond by either analyzing what is being said or reflecting personally through your own experience...

"I am not a racist. I am against every form of racism and segregation, every form of discrimination. I believe in human beings, and that all human beings should be respected as such, regardless of their color."

Although i am against racism and segreation, i still find myself discriminating against others. I believe that everyone should be treated as equals when it comes to what race you are, however i was raised to discriminate and am trying to change it as i get older. I think that everyone has a little trait of discrimination in them weather they see it or not.

I don't base how I feel about people on the color of their skin or their ethnic backround. I agree that we're all human beings and as such should be entitled to basic rights and respect.

though i feel Malcolm was a valuable leader in the fight for equality in during his time, i believe this quote contradicts his actions. though X showed he wanted equality amongst white citizens, he discriminated against others as well. in a sense he was for black supremency.

what up Rounds!

my family is racist and i was too when i was younger but now i'm not because i realized that the way their heart beats mine does too. we might be different or look different but that's not what matters. the world would be boring if everyone was the same. i think racist people are just ignorant. they don't want to open their eyes and see how much better the worlds is if there is a diversity.

i believe that this is what the world should be like. there should be no racism and discrimination in any ones life but that is not all what it is all about today. i believe that it is more segregated through music then there is racism. the music mostly puts us in to groups that are mostly color sperated. when someone doesn't repsect others music then racism comes out and that is what everyone blames it on.

I think that this qoute is something that EVERYONE should live by...although people on a daily-basis dicrimanate agianst others, we should all stop and think about what Malcom said...We should all not look at someone and judge them because of skin color or anything else....Everyone is equal we are all the same...Now I am not preching and saying that I don't look at someone think one way about them because I DO...I think everyone has done it once or twice...THIS WEEK...but we should still stop and think about what we are doing when we do that...

I BELIEVE IN THIS QUOTE. EVEN THOUGH MANY PEOPLE CAN BE IGNORANT AT TIMES I BELIEVE PEOPLE OF ALL COLORS DESERVE TO BE EQUAL. I AM NOT RACIST I LOVE ALL PEOPLE, NO MATTER WHAT COLOR THEY ARE. I DON'T DISCRIMINATE BECAUSE OF COLOR, I DISLIKE BY PERSONALITY AND ACTIONS FROM EACH INDIVIDUAL. IF THE WORLD WAS NOT DIVERSE IT WOULD BE EXTREMELY BORING. -PEACE.....IM OUT..1

this quote makes me think that everyone should be treated equal and if there not treated qual the world is not perfect, which is a good thing because the world is not perfect if the world was perfect we wouldnt be able to feel any pain. what Malcolm X stated in this quote is weirdly true.. I'm not racist but some people have tried to get along with other people but couldnt... i find that to be okay.

Malcom X is definetly being reasonable, even though segregation is not a bad solution to criminals(Incarceration). Malcom X has overcome many barrier and experienced racism.

I beleive that every human being should be respected, no matter what color they are black, white, brown, yellow, it doesn't matter we are all the same. If everybody could follow this quote I'm sure that the world today would be a better place to live in. Diversity is a good thing to have.

i belive that i'm not racist but i catch myself calling people names when they piss me off and iaslo can't standwhen other people say nigga or nigger to they're friends and other people and i just look at them and say that why are you calling them that they are not that they are humans and they are not names. Also don't put anyone done just for their religion and raising, that is why i can't stand my school because there is alot of people thinking that they are better then everyone else or not even that just that their race or the people that they hang out with is better then every one else. Even though i have friends that are of the opposite color and friends of the same color too but the only time i don't like them is when they start to discriminate against some one else.
i usually don't talk to them for a while.and what lyn said that you should get along with eveyone.

Racism goes against everything I stand for. I am presently reading the autobiography of Malcom "X" Little, and he was far from racist. He was an Afro-American intelectual, and being an intelectual he saw through the facade of hatred and anger and saw the imsecurities, fear, and deliberate ignorance which are at the heart of racism.

Honestly this quote is a wonderful expression to use when dealing with racial oppression or discrimination, but I can't say I agree with it fully. I don't believe I could ever respect the human race as a whole because there are so many do-badders that don't know when to control their greed and war-mongering. We are all one race sure, but everyone already knows that. I feel that racism is going to die off as our older generations die off and our newer generations interbreed and we all become one race of dark haired dark skinned, brown eyed people.
